Amazon.com is ramping up a Uber-style delivery service that is already taking parcels away from delivery by the USPS. The new service (Amazon Flex), now operating in major markets, uses independent contractors to deliver “blocks” of packages for earnings between $18-25 per hour, plus tips! The contractors are wearing UPS-style shirts with the Amazon.com logo. A delivery driver told PostalMag.com owner Tom Wakefield that the service is ramping up in the coming weeks with the hiring of new drivers, and once that is done, the USPS will be seeing less Amazon.com packages for delivery.
