It’s been somewhat of a mystery how much, or how little, Chinese postal customers are paying to ship goods through the mail to the United States using the controversial e-EMS and ePacket services. Many retailers in the United States are livid under the belief it costs less to send a package from China to the United States than from two points in the U.S.
After a little online snooping around, it appears we have found the English language page for the e-EMS service at China’s Postal Express and Logistics website. A partial screenshot is below:
According to this information, a 50 gram (1.76 ounce) package to the U.S. from China would cost 6RMB (.91 cents U.S.). (As we understand it, RMB is just another term for the more popularly used yuan.) Each additional gram (past 50) is 0.12 RMB which means each 50 grams is 6 RMB (50 x 0.12 = 6), or 91 cents. Thus, you would have the following rates:
1.76 ounce package from China to the U.S. would be 91 cents
3.52 ounce package from China to the U.S. would be $1.82
5.28 ounce package from China to the U.S. would be $2.73
7.04 ounce package from China to the U.S. would be $3.65
8.8 ounce package from China to the U.S. would be $4.56
The e-EMS service is limited to 2 kilograms (70.5479 ounces or 4.4092 pounds).
