USPS OIG Report Identifies Problems in Travel Card Monitoring



The USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG) has issued a Management Advisory Report on the Monitoring of Government Travel Card Transactions that identifies widespread problems in the monitoring of travel cards used by USPS employees. The report identifies particular trouble in the monitoring of cash advances, and noted the following:

  • 601 cash advances with no related official travel.
  • 644 cash advances in which employees took cash in excess of the limit of $50 a day or $350 a week.
  • 15 instances in which employees took their advance more than 5 days before the trip
