on

Postal customers have pre-ordered a record 1.5 million postage stamps in the “Stamps Batted In Pennant Race.” The stamps feature baseball legends Joe Dimaggio, Ted Williams, Larry Doby and Willie Stargell.

The “Pennant Race” closes July 19th prior to the July 20-21 official First-Day-of-Issue ceremonies for Major League Baseball’s All-Stars Forever stamps.

So far, DiMaggio leads the race, with 421,266 SBIs (Stamps Batted In). Williams has 417,066 SBIs, Stargell 340,646, and Doby 332,566.

“This pennant race is getting more exciting,” said Stamp Services Manager Stephen Kearney. “DiMaggio has dethroned Williams – for now – and there’s just a week left for Larry Doby or Willie Stargell fans to take the pennant. We’re confident they’ll step up to the plate.”
