Holladay Park is named for Ben Holladay, once known as the “Stagecoach King” for his stagecoach empire. Holladay acquired the Pony Express in 1862 and won the contract for mail service to Salt Lake City, establishing the Overland Stage Route. Holladay eventually sold his stage routes to Wells Fargo Express.
